An easier way to do this exercise without using weights is to use your own body weight as resistance.

what are the best arm exercises for women?

i'm at the 40 thing, I'm not a big big woman, but my arms are getting flappy. I need a way to tone them up. I have always been bigger on top than bottom, not a big out of porpotion, but enuff. So I'm not looking to add any bulk, just tone. Also are there any exercises sthat will incresre the size of your bottom? Cause I'm a Black woman with a tutty booty.

Women and Cycling? Toning the butt?

I am buying an exercise bike this week and i would like to know how i can improve my riding to target my butt more specifically. Do i push the petals with the tip of my foot or not? As well, what is the best way to tone it? I am pretty skinny but my butt isn't tone so what would be the best? Is it true about those 8 secs spin then 20 secs slower for 20 mins? Thank you for any information!!

Keep the balls of your feet on the pedals, it has nothing to do with what you're asking. If you want to get a lot of glut (butt) exercise you need to have a bent over position while riding. Leaning over the bars brings your butt muscles into play. And cycling can really tighten up your rear end.

While I don't advocate exercise bikes as they tend to not be used, if you are determined to do it buy a cycle that allows you to ride with your upper body bent over forward like a racing style bike - many don't.

As far as your workout, sure varying your speed, called interval training is good. It will cut down on boredom and give you a fuller workout. Doing a hard 8 sec, slow 20 maybe hard for 20 minutes so work up to it. Ride at least 5 minutes slow as a warm up then start your intervals. When you had enough, cycle at a good hard rate that you can do to complete a 30 minute ride. Then at the end do 5 minutes min. to cool down for a total of 40 minutes. Do less and work up to it and you will be fine.
