Do meal replacement shakes really help you to loose weight?

Ok. i'm 5'5'' and i weigh about 123-25 everyone says i'm skinny as hell and i wear my weight well. anyways do you think i'm fat. i'm 18. I want to start drinking those Soy meal replacement shakes. just for the hell of it. I mean they are so freaking good. Do they really work though?

Is this a good enof workout to take a protein shake afterwards?

Last week my friend and i bought protein shake mix for when were done working out. And i was wondering would it be sufficient to take the shake after workout ( for 15 minutes i do cross crunches, and lift weights), or would it only really work if i did a huge workout?
