Can I still due bench exercises without a workout bench?

I have found a good workout routine but I have no workout bench for half the dumbbell routines. Is there anything I can use to substitute a flat surface to work out on (like a bed) that will give me the same benefits as a workout bench?

You can do "bench presses" and "flies" on the floor, the only thing a bench does is give you greater range of motion and greater number of exercises you can do. If you have access to an exercise ball, you can also do them lying on the ball. This also gives you the benefit of working your stabilization muscles that you can't get on a bench.

How do You Use Dumbbells? Can You point to me to some good Websites?

Okay, I go to the gym and use the machines three times per week. But I bought dumbbells, but have no idea what to do with them.

I look online, but my cursory searches don't turn up websites with helpful videos or diagrams about how to properly use these things.

I find lots of sites with suggestions for workout routines and outline things that it assumes I should already know.

But, the question remains: how the heck do I use these things? What exercises work the best? What are three or four good ones I can do to get an overall good workout?

You can also easily transfer any exercise that you are doing on machines and/or barbells over to dumbells. For example, if you do the biceps machine, just do the exact same exercise, but with dumbells.

Dumbells are excellent, because they force you to stabilize which each arm. This works out more of the muscle fibers than you would with a machine, or even with a barbell, in some cases.
