A healthy heart ensures the body and its system are always in top condition. Although all exercises are good for the body ultimately, some impact more and directly on the heart than others. Any exercise that makes the heart pumps hard is good for it. Such workouts enable the heart perform at its highest by allowing for high and unhindered Circulation of blood to every part of the system. If the heart is in a good condition, there is no need fearing attack from cardiovascular Diseases.

It is imperative to differentiate among the various physical activities to know their functions and benefits. This way, the exerciser adopts suitable workouts whenever the need arises. The following are some activities that can help the heart in top shape/weight loss:

Jogging: This activity keeps the heart working hard while the session lasts. Although it is the limbs that are apparently worked, it is the heart that benefits ultimately. Jogging is particularly good for the heart, lungs and limbs.

Bicycling: This is another good activity that gets the heart thudding well after the session. The limbs also benefit.

Skipping: Skipping rope is an indoor activity that helps keep the heart in shape. Note that the longer you are able to keep at it, the better for you and the fitter the heart becomes. But for a beginner, it is good to go slowly and be progressive as you go along. Gently does it.

If you have s preference for this activity, be sure to walk at an even pace and dress appropriately. Clothes should be loose fitting and shoes comfortable. Take along a bottle of water to replenish the body, as you are sure to sweat a lot while at it.

Mountain Climbing: Although not many people undertake this exercise because of fear of falling down. It is one activity that makes the heart to bump hard. It is recommended only for those with head for heights.

5'6 guy 20y.o. 163lbs Whats average or healthy weight for my height?

Ive lost 104 lbs already and I'm wondering whats the weight range I should be looking for where I'll be skinny for my height because I've still got fat all round my body. I'm thinking its around 140-145lbs or maybe even 135lbs...

Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women.

your bmi at the moment is 26.3

BMI Categories:
Underweight = <18.5
Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
Overweight = 25-29.9
Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

so at the moment you are a tad overweight...

if you are shooting for the 140 range your bmi would be 22.6, which would be absolutely healthy & normal :)

Question about exercise routines?

I want to start exercising routinely but i don't know where to start?

I DON'T want to loose weight i am 18 and weigh 7st at height 5'2.
I just want to tone up my body, be healthier and banish cellulite...and increasing my flexibility would be a bonus.

So what sort of weekly/dayly exercise rountine should i be looking at? Something i can do from home i don't want to join a gm or buy any exspensive equipment. Or do you know anything to help me work it out?

I already cycle quite abit and i've heard about pilates...is this a good idea?

I thought that exercising would build muscles with right amount of protein...so as i'm burning fat i would be gaining muscle? Making my body firmer and more toned? Is that right?

yogalates (yoga + Pilates) is great and so is P90X. Both are excellent for toning and flexibility. I'm not a fitness expert or anything, but I'm roughly in your situation. and since you just want to tone up, it shouldn't take you very long to do. They say a good routine is about 3--4 times a week.
