WHO Child Growth Standards - Length/Height-for-age, Weight-for-age, Weight-for-length, Weight-for-height and Body Mass Index-for age $45 A comprehensive review of the uses and interpretation of anthropometric references undertaken by WHO in the early 1990s concluded that new growth curves were needed to replace the existing international reference. To develop new standards, a multi-country study was carried out to collect primary growth data and related information from 8440 healthy breastfed infants and young children from diverse ethnic backgrounds and cultural settings (Brazil, Ghana, India, Norway, Oman and the USA). The first set of growth standards (length/height-for-age, weight-for-age, weight-for-length, weight-for-height and body mass index-for-age) are presented in this report. The curves represent the best description of physiological growth for children under five years of age. The standards depict normal early childhood growth under optimal environmental conditions and can be used to assess children everywhere, regardless of ethnicity, socioeconomic status and type of feeding. This report will be useful to paediatricians and other healthcare providers, nutritionists, policy makers, researchers, national institutes of health, schools of medicine, and professional associations. |

Normal Weight For Women By Height Questions
Why are women so scared/intimidated by very tall men?
Hello. I am having very difficult coping with my extreme height. At 6'2 I a total freak around my neighborhood. The Men around here average about 5'6 in height and the women average around 5'1 or so.
As you an see, I am way above the normal for guy.
It just seems that the ladies are scared or intimidated by my height and weight. I also weigh about 247 pounds last I checked.
All I know is that I see tons and tons of these 5'6 guys who's girl friend is only a couple of inches taller than her not a whole FOOT AND A HALF!!!!!!!!!
So my height makes me angry, confused, and depressed.
Some times I feel like I would be better off dead because of this major problem I have.
Am I right about this?
Really, you aren't freakishly tall at all. You are just normal tall, i think that's really a normal height for a guy.
I'm a freakishly short girl where i come from, 5'1", two inches above being a midget. It makes me feel weird sometimes because it makes me self conscious occasionally, it makes me feel like i'm weak or something, or like i look insignificant and fragile. But i'm not.
The men there are considered short, i think.
But girls, even short girls like tall fellows, it makes some of them feel safe. I dated a guy that was 6'3" for over a year, and it wasn't a big deal. I dated another possibly even taller fellow for a year.
I do now prefer guys near my height, because i don't like to feel short, but really it's more about who a guy is, and i would date any fellow that i connect really well with, who is a good match for me.
I'm sure you are a fabulous fellow that could be very likable, and i don't think your height is any problem at all, you have to learn to love yourself the way you are, just like i had to learn to love being shorter than everyone around me. (even my family...my younger brother is taller than me, haha.)
I do think you have some issues with low self confidence, and you should try to focus more on the positive things about yourself, and getting to know yourself better, and working on your interests. Also, learn to accept and love the way you are, there is really nothing wrong with you at all.
Additionally, confidence and being more well rounded is always sexy as heck!
You are definately better off living, life is amazing when you can see it that way ^_^
Best wishes!
