What are some standard/average rowing distances for 20:00 on a stationary rowing machine. I'm not talking about professionals.. just regular rowing in a fitness class.

For me (male, average height, average weight, moderately fit, rowed in high school)

Average split per 500m at 15-20 strokes per minute:
- between 2:00 and 2:30 for a high intensity workout
-between 2:30 and 3:00 for a low intensity workout

That equates to:
- 4,000-5,000m (high intensity)
- 3,333m-4,000m (low intensity)

There are a lot of variables that effect the final distance.
- Most gym users don't learn how to use the rowing machine properly, and thus waste a lot of energy and power. 60-70% of the power in a stroke comes from the legs.

- Most gym users row too fast and thus lose power and get more tired. Rowers rarely exceed 34 strokes per minute (except in races and sprints), and do a lot of their training at about 18-28 strokes / minute.

- The fan resistance settings change the intensity and distance

- Each machine differs slightly
