The Concept 2 Rower
The Concept 2 Rower was created over about 30 years and it is one of the most highly regarded manufacturers of rowing machine. These units supply the user with an complete workout and are easy to use.
The Concept 2 brand name began back in 1976 when two brothers, Dick and Pete Dreissigacker, were training for the Olympic Games. Their 1st move into business was the introduction of a carbon fiber oar to be used on the water. It was not until a couple of years later on that they turned their focus on the design of rowing machines.
These days there's two versions of the Concept 2 Rower. The model D and the model E. Both of them are high quality machines and one is not more advanced than the other. The decision between the two really amounts to personal preference.
Looking at the two designs, there is one obvious difference between them. The model E stands further of the floor than the model D. Its seat is raised up to about the height of a normal chair.
This has the advantage that it is much easier to get on and off which is very important for older people or those with injuries or mobility problems.
The only other design difference is that the model E comes with a more advanced computer monitoring device although this is available on the model D as an extra.
The Concept 2 Rower utilizes a air resistance brake and one of the clever design features is that the level of resistance offered by the machine during a stroke depends on the force that the rower places on it. Due to this design, it is not necessary to adjust the machine and it will automatically provide sufficient resistance for each rowing style.
Since the Concept 2 Rower was designed and built by rowers it functions as a rowing training aid firstly and as a general fitness tool secondly. One of the clever options available is known as slides.
It is possible to place the rowing machine on a set of slides and then the device will slide back and forward on the floor while in use. Where shall I start investing in a home gym?
I want to spend around £2000 on a home gym just with a bike, rower and multi gym. I already have a treadmill. I have my eye out on the concept 2 rowing Machine, so that's £1000 gone (kind of). What stuff shall i get? Also, i am a rugby player, shall I bulk or rip? thanks!
Firstly, I can't see the point in a home gym. Ultimately the gym in your local town is going to have rowing machines, Bikes and treadmills. AND tonnes of weight machines and matts, etc etc. So it may not even be worth buying a home gym.
But, If you insist on a home gym then a Concept 2 rowing machine is great, I have one at my local gym and I love it. The treadmill sounds good. So you should do alright for cardio stuff. If you do want a static bike there are plenty out there, Most of them great.
Before going out and buying some of the huge weights machines which cost £££££'s, Consider which ones you really want. Do push ups, use the little hand weights instead. A lot can be done with those little weights you hold in your hands. So only get the machines you'll REALLY use to get maximum value for money, And try doing other things to save money. Pull Ups and Press ups, etc etc.
And Bulk or Rip? Well it depends on your position. If your a prop go for bulk, If your a winger go for rip. Every other position is somewhere between the two.
