Does that shake weight thing actually work?

I've seen the commercials and such, and my birthday's coming up, so I figured I might ask my mom for it. A few questions, though.

Does it actually work?

What does it exercise? I know the arms, but what all does it affect? (Stupid question.)

What's the difference between the men's version and the women's version? I've seen boxes that say "...for women!" and I think "...for men!", but what exactly is the difference?

My sister says it makes people's boobs smaller. This confuses me deeply, but for shits and giggles, someone tell me if that's true at all.
So if a woman used the men's version correctly, would she bulk up or something?

(I ask because I'm ftm transgender and was wondering what the effects would be.)
Also, I know it doesn't work alone, so yeah.

My son does free weights in the gym and cardio. He is in great shape at 19. He bought the shake weight to take on vacation this summer. he loved it and said it gave him a great workout combining cardio and weights.
