Does Medifast Help You Take Off Those Last Stubborn Pounds? Or Is It A Diet Only For People With A Lot Of Weight To Lose?

I recently heard from a woman who was trying to lose the last 10 pounds of her "baby weight." She had given birth about 18 months ago and although most of the baby weight had come off, she still had about 10 pounds that seemed to be particularly stubborn. She had lost much of the postpartum weight pretty easily and she wasn't doing anything drastic other than watching her calories and trying to make smart choices with her meals. She wanted to know if medifast was a good diet in which to lose those last stubborn 10 pounds (which didn't seem to be responding to anything else.) I'll take you my take on this in the following article.

Because Of Ketosis, My Opinion Is That Medifast Is A Good And Effective Diet For Those Last Few Stubborn Pounds (That You Just Can't Seem To Lose:) The person who wrote me said that those last 10 pounds seemed to be mostly in her belly which indicated (at least to me) that there might be some excess fat stores involved. This weight and fat may not have responded to her usual restricted calorie diet because her body was seeing at as stores for future use.

Here's the thing about medifast. It helps you to lose weight in two different ways. Sure, you take in less calories and this is always one of the keys to weight loss. But, since you are also taking in high amounts of protein and low amounts of carbs, ketosis also comes into play much of the time. This is where your body begins to burn fat instead of carbs because you have set it up so that there is no excess carbohydrates.

So, in this mother's case, I felt that ketosis might really help her to get over that hump and to burn that excess belly fat that was hanging around long past its welcome. Whether her body saw it as insurance for the future or not, it wouldn't have a choice since she was going to be limiting her carbs. Of course, there are other low carb diets out there, but in my experience, very few of them are as convenient or easy as medifast. There's no tallying or counting and most of your meals are provided for you. So you pretty much only need to eat what they've given you and this saves a lot of time and effort.

Plus, you have more snack and dessert type choices than you might other wise get on a high protein diet. Yes, medifast offers eggs (as most high protein diets do,) but there are also shakes, bars, puddings, soups, stews, chilis, brownies, oatmeals, chips, fruit drinks, and cappuccinos. Many of these sweeter types of foods aren't offered on your typical ketosis inducing diet.

That's not to say that medifast isn't also appropriate when you have a lot of weight to lose. Ketosis can be effective in both scenarios. But, I suspected that in this case, ketosis might be the thing that got this dieter over the hump since the fat burning combined with the calorie deficit would give her more to work with than her previous attempts.

Buying Protein shake and need advice?

I'm interested in buying protein shakes because I lose allot of weight during exercises and it's frustrating. I looking to build upper body muscle and cardio. I go for a 3 mile run every day and I go to the gym afterwards. The reason why I exercises so excessively is because I want to become a Royal Marine... So hopefully that's enough for information for you to help me?

How should I gain weight/muscle? Diet? Workout?

I'm pretty sure i'm underweight, i have been all my life.
Right now i'm 5'6" and around 106lbs. I've recently gotten a membership to a gym and have been doing an hour long workout 3 times a week. After each workout i buy a protein shake they make there, then go home and eat, and fall asleep.
I can't eat big meals, i usually skip breakfast, but have lunch dinner and then another meal before bed. Is this a good idea? What should i be eating to gain weight/muscle?
I also read somewhere that the supplement Creatine would help me gain muscle. Should i buy it?
Any other information and advice would be helpful.

How To Gain Weight?

Gaining weight is harder than losing weight and this is FACT, ive had to go both up and down the scales when i was boxing.

I've Experianced this first hand, most important things are your workout plan and your diet.

Your diet MUST consist of complex carbs this is your brown bread,pasta,oats, etc etc.

Eat every 2-3 hours if you can, if you cant yet dont worry, you will be able to eventually because your stomach is like a ballon and imagine the food is air, the stomach will eventually adapt to a larger size and get use to the idea of eating more, more often. Drink PLENTY of water, its the water thats going to make you GAIN muscle by feeding it, you want to concentrate on LEAN MUSCLE GAINS not FAT GAINS. You need to sleep properly for at least 6hours but dont over sleep 10+. Also workout your Basal Metabolic Rate this is how many calories you need just to live workout the value and add 500, make sure your eating the new amount every day for the week untill you cant see anymore weight gains, then increase again!

Your workout needs to consist of different body parts on different days, you need to make a real timetable, ill give you an example of mine.

Your rep range should focus on 5-7 reps as you want to gain mass! This is the optimal rep range for muscle gains also you want to try and do 4-5 sets of each workout

Monday - Chest + triceps
Tuesday - Back + biceps
Wed - day off
Thurs - shoulders + triceps
Friday - Legs + Biceps

I don't do abs as i dont need to but if i needed to id probably slot them in on friday along with legs and along with monday's.

What you need to understand is you need at least 2 days off in my opinion because you know whaT? your muscles ONLY GROW when your asleep!! So dont overtrain because when that happens your not going to grow and be prone to injury.

In relation to supplements take a protein shake after a workout and guess what?? Before you sleep to! Some shakes can give you a bad stomach so if you can deal with it do it!

This is all in a Nutshell for you i hope this works for you and trust me if you do these basic steps you WILL see GAINS, im living proof, i was a twig once upon a time.
