Water Rower Questions

During the rowing in the Olympics, why are there bicyclists riding on the bank?

I'm wondering why there are several people riding bicycles on the banks at the pace of the rowers in the water. Is that security? Olympic officials?

The cyclists, sometimes referred to as "Bank Riders", are exclusively the coaching staff of the participating nations.

You may be able to hear them shouting encouragement, and even advice, to their athletes (However, this may sound faint since they are prohibited from using amplification equipment). In addition, contrary to the speculation of "Glazy S", they are not talking to the athletes "via radio headset" as radio equipment is also prohibited.

Coaches are the only cyclists for the following reasons:

- Olympic officials responsible for the regulation and smooth running of races (Umpires) do not cycle alongside but instead follow in motorized launches.

- Olympic officials responsible for the timing of races reside in huts positioned at every 500m marker and finish times are attained from photo finish pictures.

- Security personal wouldn't be able to further ensure the safety of the rowers, since the athletes in question are in the center of a lake

- Spectators aren't allowed to follow races by bike because of obvious health and safety constraints.

How do I tell my girlfriend.....?

I currently live with my girlfriend, and have been for 5 or 6 months. I am finding that I am less and less attracted to her because she is getting very lazy. She doesn't do anything anymore, and she refuses to do any exercise despite me buying a treadmill and a water rower. I am repulsed by the women who I live with. I have tried sitting down to talk with her but she always changes the subject, and makes excuses...

What is the best way that will involve the least amount of shouting, that will enable me to move out?
