What is the Right Weight For Someone is 5'5"?

I am 17 years old and I am 5'5" I am trying to lose weight and was wondering what the "ideal" weight for my height would be.

What type of bow should I buy as a beginner 19-year old?

I'm also in pretty good shape and am right-eyed and right-handed.
I weigh 66 kg = about 146 lb.
I'm 175 cm tall = about 69 inches.
I've read that the draw length = (roughly) height or distance from fingertip to fingertip/2.5
So, 69 by 2.5 gives me 27.6.

Given two options, should I get a draw length of 25 or 30?
I plan to practice for target archery so that limits me to recurve bows, I think. Also, I don't want to spend that much money when trying this out for my first time, so that automatically factors out compound bows. So my price range is on the lower end - about $80-$120 for the bow alone.

My question is: what brands/specific models would you advise me to get, and what draw weight and draw length would you say the bow should have? Thanks for helping!

Have you tried looking around for ranges? Some archery ranges will let you use their equipment for free, that's the best way to get started. Otherwise you'll be buying bow after bow after bow, that is if you want to do it properly.

$80-$120 will get you something like the poster above me said, or something like the KAP surprise if you like metal riser. For recurves, there is no draw length to be concerned with, recurve bows, unlike compound, can accommodate a huge draw length variance. For optimum comfort/performance, a 68" bow is just right for you. Although that bow length might not be available with some model.

As for draw weight, and this is why it's better to use a loaner bow to begin with, you'll need to start light if this is the first time you shoot, specially when you're doing it on your own. If you want to learn proper form on your own, go for something around 20lbs, not more than 25lbs. If you have to work to get that string back, you'll end up concentrating on the wrong muscles.
